Lovers of winter sports will be filled, as well as hikers and nature enthusiasts, who will discover the preserved nature of the Regional Natural Park of Narbonne.

The Regional Natural Park of Narbonne

Spread over a large part of the "Narbonnaise en Méditerranée" (approximately 80,000 hectares), the Regional Natural Park of Narbonne is unique in more ways than one. Composed of the maritime Corbières and an extensive lagoon complex, it is, in France, one of the last great unspoilt natural sites of this magnitude and diversity bordering the Mediterranean.

This rich area is home to a great biodiversity of exceptional flora and fauna, natural areas, landscapes of vineyards, towns and villages; it is a land of life with many faces.

The park is a gentle way to discover the territory (paths, accommodation in the nature, heritage accommodation, bird watching ...). Nearly 200 km of trails divided into 30 loops and 2 Sentiers de Grande Randonnée (great hiking trails) are available to walkers of all levels and include the discovery of the villages.

One word could sum up the landscapes of the Mediterranean coast of Aude: contrasts.
First of all, contrasts in geography: just a few miles away, you will find sea and lagoons, vast ponds of brackish water ponds called « étangs » (of Bages-Sigean, of La Palme, of Pissevaches) in the Corbières massif.
The small massifs of the Clape, and the plateau of Leucate, border the coastline. Plains are dotted with small hills, covered with Alep pines, with soft shapes often eroded by the wind.

The landscapes bordering the Mediterranean Sea are infinite and strongly contrasted : valleys and plains occupied by the vineyards,  cliffs, jagged peaks, hills, barren plateaus where the rock outcrops, and where an ephemeral and discreet flora appears at spring, wide sandy area, ponds and marshes...

The contrast is permanent between dryness and humidity : islands bathed in sun, planted in the heart of the pond of Bages – Sigean; Leucate plateau that plunges steeply to the cliff above the sea, or vines that descend on the banks of ponds ...
Contrasts also between the barren areas and those marked by the hand of men. In the Corbières, villages, vineyards, Mediterranean forests and scrublands share the great outdoors. On the coast, seaside resorts have developed large and beautiful sandy spaces.
